All Sumi-e Painting Locations in Ghost of Yotei (An Artist’s Eye)

Hat of Curiosity

This is located in the far south of the region, near the Southern Coast. If you have completed “Takezo the Unrivalled” (Mythic Tale), you will have the Coastal Duelling Tree available for Fast Travel on your map.

Headband of Loss

You can find this Sumi-e painting on top of a rock platform to the right of the Shikotsu River on the map. The platform is surrounded by purple flowers, making it quite easy to spot from a distance.

Headband of Yotei

This is to the north of Maw of the Serpent, very close to the Blooming Ridge Shrine. You will have to paint Mount Yotei to get the headband for it.

Hat of Youth

For this Sumi-e painting, make your way to the south side of Lake Jozan to find the mat on top of a ledge.

Headband of Defiance

This is next to Otaru Beach, to the southwest of the region. When you first reach here, you will spot two large stone columns that you have to climb to reach the top to find the mat. You will be painting Mount Yotei, which you can see in the distance.

Headband of Fortitude

You can find this Sumi-e painting to the south of the Rumoi River, close to the Crimson Dye Beach.

Hat of Messengers

For this one, you need to mount your horse and make your way to the east of Nakagoya Spring. This is right next to the Abandoned Fishing Camp near the waterfall.

Mask of Freedom

This is located above the Ohara Plains, east of Dead Man’s Tree, which is the location where you can find Taro, who has set up shop here. The painting mat is next to the single tree.

Headband of the Seasons

You can find this below the Tomamu Marshlands on the map, to the southeast of the region.

Mask of Community

For this, you need to make your way to the right of Niptay Mountain, where you will have to do a bit of climbing to reach the top. Here, you can find the map and start painting.

Headband of Tranquility

This is east of Nayoro Falls, right next to the Iwor Woods. You will be painting the Ainu while they are working.

Mask of Slumber

For this painting, you need to go west of the Teshio River on the map. If you have progressed through the Kitsune’s questline and unlocked the Black Dye House, you can fast travel there and head east to find this on a ledge next to the frozen lake.

Headband of the Wild

You can find this to the west of Sentinel Forest, near the middle of the region. This is below the Enduring Hold Shrine on the map. You might find a few sections along the way where you start freezing, so it’s best to equip Taro’s armor, which grants Fire and Cold damage reduction by a major amount at max level. This will make your travels in this region much more manageable.

Mask of Remembrance

After you progress through the Saito Brothers’ questline, you will gain access to Oshima Coast, and here you can make your way to the north of Atago Rice Fields. This painting mat is situated next to numerous cherry blossom trees. You will be painting the beautiful cranes that are located next to the ponds.

Hat of Refinement

As you complete missions in this region, you will reach the Matsumae Castle, where the story progresses further. Towards the courtyard located south of the castle is a place where you can find a mat and draw the castle in the distance.
